Description

Temporary Edge Protection Post for Timber Guardrails

Our temporary edge protection post provides a simple, secure and cost-effective method of creating timber guardrails around exposed floor edges, stairwells and other openings during construction.

Manufactured from steel with a high-visibility finish, each post is securely fixed to the supporting floor through its base plate. Suitable timber rails are then fitted between the posts to form a double guardrail, creating a temporary physical barrier around the exposed edge.

The system provides a practical alternative to constructing temporary timber frameworks and can be quickly assembled and removed as work progresses.

Simple and Secure Floor Fixing

Each temporary edge protection post features a base plate designed to be securely fixed to the floor using four suitable screws.

Guardrail brackets are positioned on two faces of the post. This allows the same post to be used at intermediate positions, at the end of a guardrail run or at a corner where the temporary edge protection changes direction.

A toeboard can also be secured at the base where required.

The fixings and supporting structure must be suitable for the intended installation and loading requirements.

Temporary Edge Protection for Floor Edges

Temporary edge protection posts can be used along exposed floor edges during construction where permanent walls, façades, balustrades or other protective features have not yet been installed.

Posts are positioned along the exposed edge and securely fixed to the supporting floor. Timber rails are then installed between them to form the temporary guardrail.

Because the system is built using individual posts, the quantity can be selected according to the dimensions and layout of the area requiring protection.

Stairwell Edge Protection

The posts are also particularly suited to creating temporary edge protection around stairwell openings.

Posts can be arranged around the perimeter of the stairwell and linked with suitable timber rails. The brackets on two faces make it possible to form corners without requiring a separate corner-post design.

For example, three posts can be used to create an L-shaped guardrail arrangement as illustrated in the product images.

Where temporary protection needs to continue down a staircase, dedicated staircase stringer guardrail posts are also available.

What Do I Need?

Temporary edge protection posts are sold individually, allowing you to order the quantity required for your particular guardrail layout.

The number of posts required will depend on the length and shape of the exposed edge or opening being protected. Remember to account for corners and changes in direction when planning the system.

Suitable timber is required to create the horizontal guardrails, together with appropriate fixings for securing the posts to the supporting structure.

For staircase applications, use our dedicated Staircase Stringer Guardrail Posts.

If you’re unsure how many temporary edge protection posts you require, contact Safety Platforms with the dimensions and layout of the area you need to protect and we’ll be happy to discuss your requirements.
