Telesafe Telescopic Edge Protection System
The Telesafe Telescopic Edge Protection System provides an adjustable, all-metal solution for creating temporary guardrails around exposed floor edges, stairwells and openings during construction.
The system combines securely fixed steel posts with telescopic metal guardrails to form a double guardrail. Unlike timber-based temporary edge protection, the telescopic rails can be extended or retracted to suit different spans, removing the need to measure, saw and cut timber rails to individual lengths.
This makes Telesafe particularly useful on construction projects where dimensions vary or temporary edge protection needs to be adapted and repositioned as work progresses.
How Does the Telesafe Edge Protection System Work?
Telesafe steel posts are securely fixed to the supporting floor using four suitable screws through the base plate.
Telescopic metal rails are then positioned between the posts to form the upper and lower guardrails. The rails are held securely in position using locking wedges.
Each standard post has anti-luce fittings on two adjacent faces, allowing the same post to be used in different positions within the system. Posts can therefore be used along straight runs, at the end of a run or where the edge protection changes direction at a corner.
A toeboard can also be secured to the base plate where required.
Adjustable Telescopic Guardrails
A key feature of the Telesafe system is its adjustable telescopic guardrails.
Three rail sizes are available:
- Short Telescopic Guardrail: adjusts from 0.8m to 1.2m
- Standard Telescopic Guardrail: adjusts from 1.2m to 2.0m
- Long Telescopic Guardrail: adjusts from 2.0m to 3.6m
Using different combinations of rail lengths allows the temporary edge protection system to accommodate a wide variety of dimensions and layouts.
The rails can be adjusted to the required span without cutting, helping make the system quicker and more convenient to configure than a traditional timber guardrail arrangement.
Temporary Edge Protection for Construction
Telesafe is designed for temporary edge protection applications where a physical barrier is required around an exposed area during construction.
Typical applications include exposed floor edges, stairwell openings and other areas where permanent walls, balustrades or guardrails have not yet been installed.
The highly visible steel posts and metal rails create a clearly defined temporary barrier while allowing the system to be removed or reconfigured as construction progresses.
Dedicated Telesafe components are also available for staircase and newel post applications, allowing temporary protection to continue across different areas of a project.
