Safety Platforms was approached by the housing association to supply them with our wide folding platform to ensure that their maintenance team had an en131 industrial/construction rated product. With a static load rating of 150kg (20 stone) and a duty rating of 115kg (18 stone) the folding work hop up platform conforms to all European and British standards for site use and ensures that employees are using the correct equipment and stay within health and safety law both protecting the employee and the employer from any contravention of health and safety regulations. Unfortunately and unknowingly some contractors and maintenance companies are using budget hop ups that are only rated for light/DIY use leaving the possibility of the platforms failing under everyday site conditions.
An additional factor in choosing Safety Platforms Low level alluminium folding platform was the trigger locking system which prevents the legs from accidently collapsing. This feature coupled with the base stabilizing bar gives the folding platform more stability and given its design can be used on scaffolding or other raised platforms without the issue of a leg falling through and destabilizing the whole platform.
